Both indexes drop after ten consecutive increases

Both the VN-Index and HASTC-Index today suffered losses after consecutively setting up new records for ten consecutive trading sessions.

The VN-Index failed to reach the 1.000 point level as predicted earlier. Ending the first call-matching, the index gained 19.1 points and reached a record high of 1012.7 points. However, at the second call matching, the index dropped to 975.3.

After the third call matching, the VN-Index lost a total of 1.9%, equivalent to 18.64 points and closed at 964.96.
There were 36 gainers against 48 losers while 24 others remained the same.
Of the 48 losers, 28 symbols reduced by more than 4.5%. Many blue-chips including VNM, FPT, KDC, REE and SAM were in this list.

STB of Sacombank continued to gain VND 3.500 (4.61%), closing at VND 79,500 a share and continued to top in volume with nearly 1.2 million shares traded, VNM and VSH followed with nearly 750,000 and 700,000 shares traded respectively.
Many other shares have their volumes exceeding 100,000. These included PVD, KHP, CII, TDH, HAP, DRC, BBT, VIP, REE, TYA, FPT, BBC, GMD, TTP, KHA, DPC, TAC and PGC.

Total market volume increased sharply with 13,27 million securities traded (up 41.80% against the previous trading session), including 9.65 million shares, 1.1 million fund certificates and 2.5 million bonds for a total value of nearly VND 1.38 trillion (up 35.49% of the January 16 trading session.)

The HASTC-Index today also dropped 11.56 points (3,58%), the first decrease after ten consecutive increases, to close at 311.24.
There were 34 gainers against 29 losers and 23 others unchanged. A total of 3.18 million shares traded for VND 290 billion.
