Japanese shipbuilder to set up factory in Viet Nam

Tokyo (VNA) – Japan’s leading shipbuilder, IHI Corporation, will establish a 100-percent foreign-owned factory in Viet Nam’s northern city of Hai Phong.

The move makes the first time that a giant foreign shipbuilder has established a facility specialising in ship design in Viet Nam. The IHI’s decision was attributed to the Southeast Asian country’s high prospects in the field.

The factory is expected to represent 25 percent of the design of commercial ships for the corporation over the next three or four years.-Enditem
