ADB surveys bridges in Dong Thap province

Dong Thap (VNA) – A team from the Asian Development Bank and representatives of the Ministry of Planning and Investment embarked on a fact-finding tour to the Mekong delta province of Dong Thap to survey work on the Cao Lanh and Vam Cong bridges.

The ADB representative said that the amount of the bank’s future investment is dependent on the study results of consultants but it would spend 1 million USD on preparations for the project.

The working group said that the paddy field is ideal for the construction but the construction site for Vam Cong bridge is complicated because of too many inhabitants.

Earlier, on August 17, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ngo Duc Thinh told Dong Thap provincial authorities that the Vam Cong and Cao Lanh bridges and the section connecting the two bridges would be financially backed by ADB loans. The project is expected to be carried out in 2009.-Enditem
