HCM City (VNA) – A trade centre in the heart of Moscow has flung open its doors for entrepreneurial Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) based businesses and traders to showcase their products and services to the Russian market.A recently concluded fact-finding visit to Russia by HCMC firms that ran from August 13-20, underscored the growing significance of the economic relationship between the two cities.
Vietnamese firms, including the Viet Tien Garment Company, the Saigon Seafood Import-Export Company, the Thanh Cong Garment Joint Stock Company, the Cho Lon Trade Co., Ltd, and the Phu Nhuan Gemstone and Jewellery Company all walked away with freshly inked agreements with the Mekong Emeral Trade Centre.
Moscow's Emeral Trade Complex sits on 37,000 sq.m of floor space and now accommodates 50 offices and showrooms as well as 400 pavilions that represent Vietnamese business interests.
The centre's management have provided storage and exhibition space for the businesses and are now looking at helping Vietnamese firms navigate the at times convoluted legal requirements needed for the establishment of business operations in Russia.
The centre is unique in that city officials have been rolling out tough new business policies for immigrants that will gradually abolish all foreign owned retail business in the city's markets, but have however been supportive of the Mekong Emeral .
According to Bui Van Hoa, Chairman of the Board at the Mekong Emeral Trade Centre, space in the centre is four times cheaper than in similar trade complexes that are found scattered throughout Moscow.
During the trip, HCM City businesspeople attended a seminar entitled “Promoting trade and exports of Vietnamese goods to the Russian market” in Moscow on August 16.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia also pledged to step up and aid Vietnamese firms in gaining a firmer foothold in the Russian market.-Enditem
