Ha Noi (VNA)- Prices of Vietnamese rice are on the continued rise in the world market in spite of the fact that the Asian market witnesses a slight reduction in the opener of the week due to impact of the Thai bath devaluation against US dollar.
The Development Information Centre under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) reported that Vietnamese exporters offer to sell rice with 15 percent of broken grain at 298.6 USD per tonne. Prices of rice with either 5 percent or 10 percent of broken grain both enjoy an increase of 2.2 USD, fetching 307.6 and 302.6 USD a tonne, respectively. Rice with 25 percent of broken grain has its price go up by 2.8 USD to 292.6 USD a tonne.
Experts predicted that prices of Vietnamese rice continue to rise in the rest of the year to a level almost on a par with Thai products as supply is down and demand is up.
For example, Thai rice with 5 percent of broken grain is offered at 323 USD per tonne, or one dollar down, against the price of 307 USD for Vietnamese rice of the same kind. --Enditem | |
