Hanoi Real Estate Leaders Arrested For Gambling

The chairman and a vice chief executive officer of a major state-owned Hanoi real estate group were arrested Saturday for gambling.
The duo and seven other staffs from the Hanoi Housing Development and Investment Corporation (Handico) were caught red-handed by a police raid in a hotel in the northern resort town of Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc province.
Police said the group was gambling when units stormed the scene. A total of VND158.2 million (US$9,730) and $1,100.
They were now in police custody in Hanoi for further investigation.
The raid was carried out by the central Social Crime investigation Police Bureau under the Public Security Ministry in coordination with the local Vinh Phuc police.
They later searched Handico’s headquarter as well as Kien and Dung’s residences in Hanoi.
