Industrial production value surges in eight months

Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam’s industrial production value in August was estimated at 51.69 trillion VND (3.23 billion USD), raising the total value in the first eight months of year to over 377 trillion VND (23.56 billion USD) or a 17.1 percent increase over 2006, according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Air conditioners with 70.2 percent; automobiles, 65.5 percent; and electrical engines, 26.3 percent lead the change of industrial products that recorded significant gains.

In August, the country’s oil industry delivered 1.35 million tonnes of crude oil mostly from the Su Tu Den (Black Lion) and Dai Hung (Big Bear) fields. Oil production was up 5.7 percent over the previous month.

The ministry asked sectors to continue to accelerate production to meet the market’s demands, helping put a break on price hike since early this year. As the world’s demands for plastic products are increasing, the ministry required the plastic sector to actively expand their outlets to the US, the EU, Scandinavian region, Japan and the Republic of Korea.-Enditem
