Ban Gioc waterfall targeted for development as tourist site

Ha Noi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved an overall plan to develop tourism in Ban Gioc Waterfall area in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang.Under the Prime Minister’s Decision 134/2007/QD – TTg, Ban Gioc Waterfall area will become a key area for tourism in the province, worthy of tourism development orientation in the region and the country, and contribute to the improvement of provincial socio-economic development. The area in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, comprises 1,000 ha.
The decision stated that the waterfall’s development needed to include protection of sovereignty and integrity of the national territory, security, order and social safety.
The construction project is expected to receive 90,000 international and domestic tourists per year by 2010 and 350,000 by 2015.
The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism will be in charge of coordinating with the provincial People’s Committee and relevant sectors to carry out the project according to the plan.-Enditem
