Coal company joins hands with foreign partners

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Viet Nam Coal and Minerals Corporation (Vinacomin) will cooperate with two foreign companies from Japan and Australia to exploit bituminous coal reserves in the Red River Delta using underground coal gasification technology.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect has been signed by the corporation, the Marubeni Company from Japan, and the Linc Energy Company from Australia.

According to Vinacomin, the underground coal gasification project will use state-of-the-art technology already applied in many countries. The gas collected after coal burning will be used to fuel power plants.

Earlier, Marubeni provided Vinacomin with 100 million USD to explore the coal reserves in the Red River Delta, which is estimated to hold 30 billion tonnes.-Enditem
