Green enterprises to get reward

Lam Dong (VNA) – A new programme pursuant to the Law on Biodiversity will reward enterprises that apply environmental protection measures with market credits or subsidies.

The Payment for Environmental Services system was the focus of a workshop presentation in the resort city of Da Lat last week that drew the participation of 70 Vietnamese officials and scientists along with representatives of the World Wildlife Fund and Bird Life.

The seminar was part of a larger initiative on the preservation of the unique biodiversity of the Dong Nai River basin that has been funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Viet Nam is listed as one of the top ten most important biodiversity areas in the world and its efforts to sustainably finance biodiversity conservation has been deemed crucial for broader benefit of the Asian continent.-Enditem
