hree heroin addicts have admitted to stabbing a police officer to death in northern Vietnam last month, police reported after arresting the suspects recently.

Nguyen Van Chuong, Vo Doan Trung, and Do Van Hoang – all in their early 20s – confessed to the brutal murder of Major Nguyen Van Sinh, 45, saying they killed him with large knives while he was on routine patrol.

The stabbing took place at Hai Phong City’s Dinh Vu Steel Factory in Hai An district on July 14.

The culprits said Sinh was wearing a raincoat on the rainy night and they thought he was a civilian.

Major Sinh managed to fire three shots without hitting anyone and died in the hospital one hour later with a broken skull.

Police suspect the three heroin addicts have carried out other robberies in the region.
