Kon Tum pours 1 million USD into aquatic breeding centre
Kon Tum (VNA) – Central Highlands Kon Tum province will pump 17 billion VND (over 1 million USD) to construction of a centre for freshwater aquatic breeding in Dak Ha district.Close to 9,000 ha of land in Dak La commune will be allocated for the project, which aims to tap local potential in the industry.
Kon Tum now has around 21,000 ha of water surface feasible for aquaculture. However, only 656 ha or 3 percent of the figure is under cultivation.
The province’s annual output from fishing and cultivation stands at around 760 tonnes, meeting 17 percent of the local demand.
Kon Tum has mapped out a plan to develop aquaculture into a spearhead industry for the province by 2015.-Enditem
