Vietnam Under Threat Of Third Storm This Month


It looks like Vietnam could be hit with a third storm in two weeks as storm Wutip could move over Taipei and hit Vietnam within the next couple of days.

At 7:00pm Wednesday, the eye of Wutip was located 350km in the southeast of Taiwan, with winds blowing around 75kph, according to international weather reports.

The storm is forecast to strengthen to 100kph winds as it move at northwest towards north of Taipei within 24 hours.

Meteorologists cannot be sure if Wutip will hit Vietnam or not.

At the same time, the Central Hydrometeorology Center reported Wednesday that storm Pabuk crossed the south of Taipei from Pacific Ocean and has entered the island straits. It is forecast to weaken to a tropical low pressure within 48 hours and move westwards at 20kph.

Pabuk eye will be 100km in the northeast of the Vietnam-China border tomorrow afternoon, the agency said.

Another storm caused very serious flooding throughout central Vietnam this week and last.
