Gun Scare Man, Accomplice Arrested In Vietnam
Do Phu Thinh reports on the gun incident while retired police officer Tran Van Tu looks on
Police have arrested two men in Da Nang for threatening to kill a computer technician whom they suspected had surreptitiously switched a USB flash drive.
They took in Ho Minh, 28, Sunday, seizing a Colt 45 pistol and a knife from his wife’s house, and Tran Cao Mao, 32, who surrendered.
Minh admitted to walking into a computer repair shop the previous day and pointing a gun at 26-year-old Do Phu Thinh.
Thinh’s girlfriend and sister were present and screamed as building owner and retired police officer Tran Van Tu sneaked up from behind and grabbed him. He then pushed Minh out of the shop and locked up.
Mao, who accompanied Minh, brandished a long knife and banged on the door, according to eyewitnesses.
But the two fled when Thinh called the police.
They work for a local lottery company.
A few days earlier a woman asked Thinh to repair her Sony USB, saying it had a 1GB memory. Thinh told her later that he had discovered it was only 128 MB.
On Friday the woman’s husband, son, and daughter came to the shop to accuse Thinh of cheating them.
Minh and Mao, close friends of the customer, turned up the next day.
