Stock indexes record modest bumps

Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – Both of the Vietnamese bourses recorded slight increases on the last trading session for the month of August.

The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange tacked on 4.43 points or 0.49 percent to close at 908.37 points.

Trading volume surged with more than 7 million shares valued at 627 billion VND traded by the end of the session.

67 stocks moved up the ladder, 23 remained unchanged while 23 were in decline.

Tay Ninh Cable Tour (TCT), Tuong An Oil (TAC), Bien Hoa Confectionery (BBC), North Kinh Do Food (NKD) and Tan Tien Plastic Packaging (TTP) had the largest upswings while Kinh Do Corporation (KDC), Viet Nam Petroleum Transport (VIP), Vietnam Dairy Products (VNM), Binh Minh Plastics (BMP) suffered the heaviest losses.

At the Ha Noi Securities Trading Centre, the HaSTC-Index finished at 252.55 points after inching up 1.27 points or 0.51 percent.

A total of 857,600 shares valued at 86.1 billion VND changed hands.

The increases in trading volume and value were attributed to high purchase orders for blue-chips Sai Gon Securities (SSI), Tien Phong Plastics (NTP) and Asian Commercial Bank (ACB) with 206,000 shares, 150,100 shares, and 92,000 shares traded respectively.-Enditem
