HCM City (VNA) – In a bid to take advantage of the huge potential in the Vietnamese high-tech market, FPT has expanded its services to selling and servicing mobile phones and laptops through FPT Retail Ltd Company.
The stores will provide high-tech products from leading international companies such as Nokia, Samsung and Motorola for mobile phones and Hewlett Packard, Toshiba, NEC and Lenovo for laptops. Each store will have a minimum floor space of 300 sq.m.
“The role of a retail system is very important because sales representatives have direct contact with customers. FPT’s retail system was set up with the hope that it will serve all of our customers’ electronic and digital demands,” Hoang Minh Chau, vice general director of FPT, said at the stores’ opening ceremony.
The total value for the market in 2007 has been estimated to reach 3 billion USD, with an annual growth of 27 percent. Mobile phone and laptop purchases currently have a growth rate of 40 and 100 percent, respectively.
FPT Retail estimates that, within two years, it will reach a turnover of 400 million USD a year.
The company will focus on providing maintenance and other value added services.
On August 29, it opened four stores in Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi with the brandname IN.
In the next 15 days, five more stores will open in the northern city of Hai Phong, the central cities of Vinh, Thanh Hoa and Da Nang and the southern city of Can Tho.
”By the end of 2008, FPT Retail plans to open 60 additional stores and the number will reach 100 in 40 provinces the following years,” said Le Quang Vu, FPT Retail southern managing director.-Enditem | |
