Charming Vietnam Gala Goes Online With English Website

Information about Charming Vietnam, Thanh Nien’s fund-raiser gala to be held in Singapore next month, can be accessed on the event’s new English website.The recently-established website (www.charmingvietnamgala.com) aims to provide overseas Vietnamese as well as foreigners with up-to-date information about the Vietnamese show.The website includes a variety of information and news about the singers and models due to appear at the gala.The website is also home to video clips about the event, which is to raise funds for the Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship Fund.Since 1994, the fund has annually sponsored some 500 scholarships worth VND1.5 billion (US$93,167) for economically disadvantaged students.The 18th Charming Vietnam (Duyen Dang Viet Nam), to be held on Aug. 18-19 in Singapore, is enjoying the attention of foreign media, including Singapore’s Channel News Asia, The Straits Times newspaper, the BBC in Britain and The Nation in Bangkok.Besides charity purposes, the show aims to boost cultural exchanges between Vietnamese and foreigners.The 2006 Miss Chinatown Singapore Leow Cai Ling, and the 2007 Best Model Singapore Nagis Abu Masawwir will feature in fashion shows with 21 Vietnamese beauty queens and top models, including Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy.Singaporean pop star Cai Chun Jia will join Vietnamese pop stars like My Linh, Dam Vinh Hung, and My Tam and overseas Vietnamese singers Tuan Ngoc and Huong Lan will also perform.
