State President visits northern Bac Kan province

0822Triet01.jpgBac Kan (VNA) - Northern Bac Kan province, with great potential in people, minerals and natural landscapes, should go forwards from its own strengths, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

At a working session with the province's leadership during his visit to Bac Kan from Aug. 20-22, President Triet asked the province to effectively tap its potentials and expand cooperation with domestic and foreign businesses and other localities to promote socio-economic development.

The leader praised Bac Kan 's achievements over the past years, especially its average annual economic growth rate of 10.85 percent and economic restructuring with increasing proportion of industry and services.

The State President stressed that Bac Kan should improve the investment environment, work out investment projects and offer incentive policies to lure investors. The province should pay attention to building infrastructure, especially transport facilities; and training a contingent of skilled workers; while accelerating development of the cultural, healthcare and educational systems and reducing poverty, the leader said. He also required the province to usually pay due attention to the maintenance of defence and security as well as the Party building work.

President Triet witnessed the signing of 10 cooperation programmes between Bac Kan and businesses, other localities. They include an agreement on building a 6,000 sq.m trade centre in Bac Kan, signed with the Ha Noi Commercial Company; and others on survey for a Bac Kan-Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh City tour, on support of Bac Kan's personnel training and on feasibility study for investment in a tourist site on Bac Kan's Ba Be lake, signed with HCM City's Saigon tourism corporation.

President Triet laid a wreath at the Phu Thong fallen combatants' cemetery in Bach Thong district, visited Ba Be district, veteran revolutionaries in Luong Bang communes (Cho Don district) and some revolutionary relic sites.-Enditem
