Vietnam Cop To Be Tried For Planting Drug On Colleague

A Hanoi court would soon try a former policeman for planting heroin in his colleague’s motorbike to get him framed as a drug trader last May, sources told Thanh Nien.

Lieutenant Le Xuan Hoang, 29, was sacked after he admitted to putting three packets of heroin and 10 tubes of pipolphen in the saddlebag of Lieutenant Mai The Quang’s motorbike merely out of spite.

In early May, Hoang gave his cousin Le Thi Bich Lien a cell phone SIM card and told her to inform the police about a drug trader using that number, the said trader being Quang.

After Hoang planted the drugs, Lien tipped off the police.

The police seized the heroin, questioned Quang and Lien, and soon tracked down the actual culprit.

The city Prosecutor’s Office has already filed charges against Hoang.

Lien was fined but not charged since she was ignorant of her cousin’s plot.
