Man Treats Snake Bites With Secret Herbs
A man in northern Vietnam has become popular for curing snake bite using herbs and knowledge collected from mountain communities in the region.
The 59-year-old Hoang Huu Loc of Yen Bai, who belongs to the Tay ethnic minority, said he had learnt to make these herbal cures while working for a drug firm in the highlands in the 1990s.
He also brought and now grows at home different medicinal plants.
Loc said he gave snake-bite victims leaves to chew and then applies the pulp on the bite spot.
Since 1993 he has saved over 200 victims, including serious cases.
He only charges VND200,000 (US$12.4) to treat a victim.
