South African, Vietnamese legislatures boost ties

Ha Noi (VNA) – Deputy National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Duc Kien on August 13 received a delegation from the South African parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises.

During the meeting, newly-appointed Deputy Chairman Kien said the legislative bodies of the two countries should strengthen their bilateral and multilateral cooperation and support the two governments in their efforts to realise the commitments already made by the two sides, especially relating to trade activities.

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises, Yunus Ismail Carrim, who led the delegation, said the Vietnamese people’s victory in the struggle for national liberation served as an encouragement for the South African people in their fight against apartheid.

The visiting chairperson expressed his wish that in the future, cooperation between the two legislatures would be enhanced along with the increased cooperation the governments and businesses of the two nations would likely share.

While in Viet Nam, the delegation held talks with the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Economic and Budget Committee, the Government Office’s Business Reform and Development Department, the Ministry of Transport and the Electricity of Viet Nam Group.-Enditem
