Viet Nam to maintain one-digit growth rate

Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam will maintain a one-digit economic growth rate over the next few years in order to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty for sustainable development, affirmed Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.

At a reception given to President Thomas Byrne of Moody’s Credit Assessment Council in Ha Noi on August 14, both the host and guest exchanged their views on Viet Nam ’s economic development.

Deputy PM Hung spoke of the objective and subjective causes of Viet Nam ’s inflationary pressures and vowed to keep the consumer price index lower than the country’s economic growth rate.

The Deputy PM told his guest that the government is accelerating administrative reforms, implementing the needed mechanisms for a socialist oriented market economy and improving on its management capability.

The government will also increase its transparency from central to grassroot levels and focus on combating corruption and wastefulness.

In March, US credit rating agency Moody’s delivered a positive report on Viet Nam ’s prospects. The Vietnamese Government has asked Moody’s to visit Viet Nam again this year to affirm its credit ratings as the government intends to issue an international bond by the end of the year.-Enditem
