Foreign Ministry spokesman, Le Dzung

Vietnam expressed Thursday its willingness to host a new round of talks between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the US.

Le Dzung, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, told the media that his government "always wishes" to make a positive contribution to the success of the talks.

"Vietnam welcomes future negotiations, and hopes that the two sides, through dialogue, will narrow differences and soon achieve positive solutions to outstanding issues, normalize relations, and contribute to peace and stability in Northeast Asia and the world," he said.

He added that Vietnam welcomed the summit talks between RoK President Roh Moo-hyun and Kim Jung Il, Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK, to be held in Pyongyang on August 28-30.
