HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has said it would revamp the city’s industrial parks to meet future investment demand.

The parks will gain an additional 7,042 hectares by 2020, of which 400 ha will be completed for use by 2015, an official said.

The expansion will make way for the re-location of polluting inner-city factories to the outskirts of the city.

The plan includes a re-adjustment of the city industrial park areas.

The Binh Chanh District-based Le Minh Xuan Industrial Park’s land would expand to 800 ha from 100 ha. The park will include mainly electronic and food industries.

Binh Chieu Industrial Park in Thu Duc District will remain at 27.34 ha and will house light industries that cause no pollution.

Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be District, which produces a great deal of waste and thus, pollution, must reduce its size of 1,500 ha. The other 500 ha will be used to build a seaport.

Saigon Hi-Tech Park in District 9 will contain advanced technology companies and will expand to 872.16 ha from 800 ha.

In another project, the city plans to build seven industrial zones with a total of 1,422 ha. They include Vinh Loc II Industrial Park (200 ha), Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park (200ha), Phu Huu Industrial Park (162 ha), Xuan Thoi Thuong Industrial Park, (300 ha) Bau Dung Industrial Park (175 ha), East-West Cu Chi Industrial Park (283ha), and Binh Chanh Shipyard (150ha).

The industrial parks would also contain more housing and more services for workers.-Enditem
