Another suspected bird flu found in Bali

Jakarta (VNA) - Health authorities on the Indonesian island of Bali confirmed on August 22 that a 58-year-old man, in Negara district, has shown symptoms of bird flu, according to local media.

The confirmation was made a day after a woman from the same district is thought to have died from the virus.

The man, 58, is showing clinical symptoms of bird flu infection, including high fever and coughing. He also has a history of contact with dead chickens, the head of the bird flu control unit at the Sanglah general hospital in Bali was quoted as saying.

Bali has already confirmed one fatality due to the deadly H5N1 strain of avian flu, prompting officials in the tourism-dependent island to cull more than 6,000 fowl and ban the trading and transportation of chickens.-Enditem
