PM convenes meeting of newly formed ministry

Ha Noi (VNA) - The merging of Viet Nam 's industry and trade ministries into the Ministry of Industry and Trade will mark an important milestone towards the country's goals of full international economic integration.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the assessment at a meeting on August 22 to discuss a clear road map for the new ministry.

PM Dung praised the ministry's chiefs for the smooth transition into the new body while ensuring that production, trade and export activities did not miss a beat.

One of the first orders of the day for the ministry was to complete and submit to the government a draft decree outlining its functions, duties and organisational structure for approval.

The PM concluded by calling on the Ministry of Industry and Trade to promote production, business and exports in order to reach the already spelled out economic targets for 2007.-Enditem
