Prime Minister wraps up ASEAN tour

Ha Noi (VNA)- Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his wife concluded a wildly successful tour of five ASEAN countries when his delegation departed Brunei on August 16.

During his two-day stay in the oil-rich state, PM Dung addressed a Viet Nam-Brunei business forum and stated that the two countries are set to roll up their sleeves and get to work on furthering their economic, trade and investment activities.

The PM will take home with him two freshly inked agreements on double taxation avoidance and oil and gas and a sports and youth pact.

“These accords will pave the way for a legal foundation for bilateral cooperation in trade, petroleum and sports,” said the Government leader.

PM Dung used the forum as a platform to assure the gathered elite of the tiny state’s business hierachy that Viet Nam enjoys a transparant and open business and investment climate for its foreign partners.

“Viet Nam pledges to fulfil its international commitments by speeding up administrative reforms and building a complete legal system for this purpose,” concluded the Government leader.

The Acting Chairman of the Brunei Economic Development Board, Dato Paduka Ong, called on businesses from the two countries to further look to work together and lamented the lacklusture trade between the two nations.

Brunei is strong in oil and gas and real estate development and the country is eager to recieve highly-skilled workers from Viet Nam, concluded Dato.--Enditem
