24th World University Games closes
| Bangkok (VNA) – The 24th World University Games (24th Universiade) closed at Rajamangala stadium, Thailand, on August 18. China, the host of Olympic 2008, topped the medal standings with 33 gold, 30 silver and 27 bronze. With 28, 26, and 38 medals respectively, the Russian team took the 2nd place, followed by Ukraine. The host Thailand won 13 gold medals, standing at the sixth place on the total board. The 24 th Universiade, which took place from August 8-18, drew the participation of about 11,000 athletes from 156 countries and territories worldwide competing in 15 sport events for 236 sets of medals. –Enditem |
