Belarus, Viet Nam can do more, says President Lukashenko

Ha Noi (VNA) – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that his country is aware of Viet Nam’s economic potential and is eager to develop the trade and economic relationship between the two nations.

At a meeting with Viet Nam’s visiting Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh on August 20, President Lukashenko said that the Belarusian-Vietnamese partnership has been developing rapidly.

“Viet Nam is a very important country in Southeast Asia for Belarus. It can be a firm foothold for our country in the region as well as Belarus being a foothold in Europe for Viet Nam,” President Lukashenko was quoted as saying.

President Lukashenko said that he will pay a visit to Viet Nam in the next few months.

Two-way trade between Belarus and Viet Nam came in at 49.3 million USD for 2006, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.-Enditem
