Conference explores shared history with RoK

Ha Noi (VNA) – Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on Aug. 20 jointly held a history conference on their relationship in northwestern Asia to celebrate 15 years of diplomacy between the two countries.

At the conference lecturers discussed the links between the two countries who have traded and exchanged diplomatic missions and information since medieval times. The two sides’ intellectuals jointly studied ancient bibliographies and original source material to describe the evolving relationships.

The two countries’ relationship especially developed in the 13 th century after Prince Ly Long Tuong’s visit to Korea and later their ambassadors met in China.

Participants agreed that their historical heritage, similar cultural characteristics and experiences in fighting colonialism contributed to enhancing the two countries’ relationship.

The conference, attended by leading historians of the two countries including Professor Phan Huy Le, Associate Professor Chuong Thau, Professor Yu In Son and Professor Park Hee Byung, is expected to mark a new development in the domain of historic exchanges, and will contribute to improving friendship and cooperation between the two countries.-Enditem
