Working class still key to nation’s future growth

Ha Noi (VNA) – Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and Party Central Committee’s Standing Secretary on Aug. 20 had a working session with the Viet Nam Institute for Social Sciences to discuss the plan of “building Viet Nam’s working class during the industrialisation and modernisation of the country.”

At the working session, experts define the main contents of the plan: identifying who Vietnamese workers are and what their role and position is in the industrialisation and modernisation of the country.

They also discussed the projected development of Vietnamese workers in the future, agreeing that the Party and State should have the right policies to support them.

Most participants said Vietnamese workers are the vanguard force in Vietnamese politics, and play a leading role in industrialisation and modernisation of the country.

In the next 20-30 years, workers would increase in quantity and their skills and knowledge would also improve, they said.

Experts suggested that the Party and State should prepare policies and prioritise reseach into the modern class of workers, developing the intellectual economy to raise the ratio of intellectuals to 20 percent by 2010, putting emphasis on education and training to raise workers’ skills, and improving their living standards.-Enditem
