Strategic cooperation on the cards for Viet Nam, Indonesia

HCM City (VNA) – A recent visit to Indonesia by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and an expanding relationship in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism are the foundations of shifting ties from their current state to a strategic cooperation.

That was the message delivered by Irdamis Ahmad, Indonesian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, at a ceremony to mark the 62nd anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day (August 17) which was jointly held by the Union of Friendship Associations and the city’s Viet Nam-Indonesia Friendship Association (VIFA), on August 21.

Both Consul General Irdamis Ahmad and VIFA President Luong Van Ly agreed that diplomacy between the two Southeast Asian nations has never been brighter. They pointed to the opening of a direct air route between HCMC and Jakarta, Indonesian government scholarships to Vietnamese students and greater art and cultural exchanges between the two ASEAN members as significant manifestations of the blooming ties.-Enditem
