AIPA’s resolutions useful for Viet Nam’s growth

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA)’s resolutions on natural disasters, epidemic control, poverty reduction, human trafficking and social ills are pertinent to Viet Nam's legal framework.

That was the assessment of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong during an interview granted to Malaysia’s Bernama News Agency on August 21 on the sidelines of the 28th AIPA General Assembly.

According to the Chairman, the National Assembly of Viet Nam has considered AIPA’s resolutions as formative directions for coordinating with its executive organs in carrying out the assembly’s plans.

Answering a query on possible obstacles caused by the differing political systems in place in member states regarding the establishment of the ASEAN community, he said while each country has different platforms in place that may affect the building of the community he saw no need for the differences to hinder its progress.

He stressed that the AIPA’s principles centre on mutual respect, non-interference in other states’ internal affairs, unity and diversity and mutual understanding for the interests of peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region.-Enditem
