Ha Noi (VNA) – Thailand ’s former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra’ brother-in-law Somchai Wongsawat, is among those expected to become a new executive for Thai Rak Thai group, said a senior executive of the group.
Sompong Amornwiwat, chairman of the group's executive board selection committee, said the group was considering 75 former Thai Rak Thai members whose voting rights for the posts were not revoked after the party’s dissolution, with nominations likely to be announced within this week.
Eleven executives of the group are also expected to be appointed within this week, he added.
Other two highly potential persons to be selected as the group’s new leaders are Surapong Seubwonglee and Sompong Amornwiwat.
This is the first time possible new executives for Thai Rak Thai group have been named publicly.
The Thai Rak Thai group was formed after the Thai Rak Thai Party was dissolved by a Constitutional tribunal in late May. All the 111 executives of the party were banned from politics for five years due to electoral fraud charges. - Enditem | |
