APEC disaster experts meeting opens in Australia

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Task Force for Emergency Preparedness kicked off a three-day meeting in Australia on August 20 to discuss how to deal with natural disaster.

The APEC Emergency Management CEOs' Seminar, involving officials of disaster management authorities from the 21 economies, will cover a range of issues including the economic impacts of disasters as well as health issues and crisis communication, Chinese Xinhua news agency quoted the task force as saying.

The task force was set up following the 2004 Asian tsunami to learn how to better cope with and respond to natural disasters.-Enditem
