Indonesia reports 83rd bird flu death
Ha Noi (VNA) - A 17-year-old Indonesian teenager has died of bird flu, bringing the death toll from the disease in the country to 83, the Health Ministry said on August 16.The ministry spokesperson, Joko Suyono, said the girl from Tangerang, just west of Jakarta capital, died on August 14, a day after being admitted to hospital.
Two laboratories confirmed that the girl tested positive for the H5N1 virus.
The death is the second confirmed from avian influenza in less than a week in Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous nation. A 29-year-old woman also died of the virus at the weekend on the resort island of Bali.-Enditem
