Celebrate National Day In Town Sept. 2nd


Staff members at the Majestic Hotel introduce Vietnamese food to a foreign diner

On the occasion of National Day (September 2), many restaurants, hotels and tourism centers in the city have organized a variety of food and leisure programs from which guests may choose.

Majestic Hotel (01 Dong Khoi St., Dist.1, tel: (08) 829 5514)

On September 1 and 2, the hotel will hold a BBQ seafood buffet, combining Asian and Western dishes and Japanese dishes such as sushi and sashimi. Free beer and soft drinks will be served, fruit and cake are also available.

A flamenco performance of Gypsi Fire band is also included. The buffet ticket is priced at US$29 per adult and US$14.50 per child.

Rex Hotel (141 Nguyen Hue Blvd., Dist. 1, tel: (08) 829 2185)

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday (September 2), the hotel’s roof top garden will introduce a buffet program with various dishes from sushi, sashimi to Western salad and BBQ, plus fresh seafood steamed or grilled to order. Free champagne, soft drinks or a glass of Tiger beer will be offered to guests as they enjoy the musical performance of Philipino band Los Llamados. The buffet costs US$22.5 per adult and US$12 per child.

Grand Hotel (8 Dong Khoi Street, Dist.1, tel: (08) 824 5771)

The hotel will offer a buffet of selected Asian food and a leisure program on Sunday. The buffet costs VND250,000 per adult and VND150,000 per child.

Dong Khanh Hotel (2 Tran Hung Dao B St., Dist.5, tel: (08) 923 4838)

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, guests can enjoy a buffet of Hong Kong specialties in an atmosphere decorated in Chinese style. There will also be a demonstration of Dim Sum, traditional Chinese cuisine, gifts of moon cake for children and wine or cocktail for adults. The prices are VND149,000 per adult and VND79,000 per child.

Que Huong 1 Hotel (49 Nguyen Dinh Chieu St., Dist. 3, tel: (08) 829 4443)

A buffet of dishes from three regions will be available on September 1 and 2, priced at VND79,000 for adults and VND59,000 for children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and VND199,000 for adults and VND159,000 for children from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Tan Cang Tourism Center (A100 Ung Van Khiem St., Binh Thanh Dist., tel: (08) 899 1120)

At 6 p.m. on September 1 and 2, the center will hold a ‘buffet on the riverside’ program with more than 50 specialties from three regions of Vietnam. Music, magic, a lucky draw and entertainment will also be offered. Guests will receive one free buffet for every ten booked. The buffet costs VND120,000 per adult and VND60,000 per child.

Van Thanh Tourism Center (48/10 Dien Bien Phu St., Binh Thanh Dist., tel: (08) 512 3026)

On September 1 and 2 from 5 p.m., a buffet with over 50 dishes will be offered. Musical performances start at 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A lucky draw with valuable prizes will also be held on these nights. The prices are VND109,000 per adult and VND69,000 per child.

Binh Quoi 2 Tourism Center (the end of Binh Quoi St., Binh Thanh Dist., tel: (08) 55 66021)

From September 1 to 3, the center will introduce ‘a dinner buffet from the coastal areas’ program with 70 dishes of various regions of Vietnam. Guests can also enjoy entertainment performances such as the fire dance and the amateur musical program on the river. The buffet costs VND99,000 per adult and VND69,000 per child.

Saigon Restaurant Boat (Bach Dang Wharf, Dist. 1, tel: (08) 8230 393)

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 2, a buffet with over 50 dishes including vegetarian food will be offered at the restaurant. The entertainment includes karaoke, color painting, comedy films, chess and music. The program costs VND99,000 per adult and VND69,000 per child.

On the evening of September 2, the boat will run twice, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and again from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., serving Vietnamese and western dishes.

Hotel Equatorial (242 Tran Binh Trong St., Dist. 5, tel: (08) 839 7777)

The hotel is preparing for a food promotion highlighting Vietnamese and Malaysian dishes in a festival of Vietnam-Malaysia Friendship, taking place from today to September 8. Dinners can sit at the Chit Chat Café in the hotel to enjoy Malaysian and Vietnamese dishes in a buffet dinner, which is priced at US$22.9++ per person.

Omni Saigon Hotel (253 Nguyen Van Troi St., Phu Nhuan Dist., tel: (08) 844 9222)

The hotel will set up a special buffet dinner highlighting Vietnamese seafood to celebrate the National Day. Gourmets can visit the hotel’s Café Saigon for a special dinner buffet featuring crab in yellow curry sauce and jumbo prawn in Thai chili paste, among others. On this occasion, the newly arrived chef Jens Heier presents an Opera Cake, which is the cake of the month at the café Oj’s in the hotel. The buffet is priced at US$25++ per person, inclusive of drinks.

Legend Hotel (2A-4A Ton Duc Thang St., Dist.1, tel: (08) 823 3333)

On the occasion of National Day, the hotel’s chef will also prepare a special Vietnamese buffet featuring dishes of three regions in Vietnam. The special is priced at US$27++ per person for a brunch buffet and US$29++ per person for a dinner buffet, and includes wines, soft drinks, fresh fruit juices, coffee and tea.

Caravelle Hotel (19 Lam Son Square, Dist. 1, tel: (08) 823 4999)

The hotel will celebrate National Day all weekend long by offering special lunch and dinner buffets at Nineteen Restaurant. Besides, as supplements to the raw oyster bar, the National Day feast will feature a selection of smoked and marinated octopus, salmon, and saba fish. The buffet is priced at US$42 per person.
